Our favourite nature-inspired tiles
Using the natural world as an inspiration for home décor is a popular trend which has continued into 2023 and one which is particularly popular in bathrooms. Indeed, the colour palette is ideal for creating a sense of calm, with earthy tones being grounding and promoting a calming effect.
With our bathrooms increasingly seen as sanctuaries where we can retreat from the outside world, bringing some of the outdoors indoors is a great way to cultivate a soothing, welcoming space. From using colours, textures and shapes inspired by nature, to choosing materials like stone – or wood-effect tiles – there are lots of ways to embrace the natural look.
Tiles are a great way to do this, so we’ve gathered some of our favourite nature-inspired tiles below to give you a little inspiration.
Stone and wood-effect tiling
The Onyx Turquoise Polished Rectified Tile harks to the trend for tiles inspired by natural rocks and stones outside of the traditional marble-effect look. Onyx is an increasingly popular choice within this category and has a luxurious appearance which will add elegance to your bathroom without the hefty price tag of real onyx stone. The gloss finish of the tile also enhances this opulence, while the porcelain material makes it very hard-wearing.
With a rectified finish, this allows the tiles to be laid closer together, minimising grout lines and creating a seamless look. The beautiful turquoise design of the tiles, meanwhile, along with the authentic veining, evokes that sense of nature and is a cool, calming blue tone which will work well with a range of décor.
Another tile inspired by natural stone is the LLerena Terra Stone-effect Tile in Cream Ceramic, which has a textured appearance with an unrefined finish and uneven surface, which mimics real stone. With a mix of sandy-gold and cream tones, this tile will add a feeling of warmth and transform your bathroom into a welcoming space.
The varying colour combined with the texture of these tiles adds visual interest and depth, so they’re ideal for creating a feature wall. The natural tones of the tiles will further complement a variety of interior design, so they’ll work well paired with a range of bathroom-ware and colour schemes.
Wood-effect tiles like the Chevrons Automne Rectified Wood-effect Tile in Brown Porcelain are also a good way to bring the natural look into your home. These tiles are suitable for both walls and floors and have a natural wood grain running throughout them to give that organic, authentic feel. The light wood colour is also very versatile and will, again, complement a variety of décor, while giving your room a more relaxed vibe.
The porcelain makes this a very durable tile, while the brown tone has an earthiness to it which is both warming and calming.
You can also bring nature into your interiors by using coloured tiles such as the Pool-green Brick-effect Wall Tile which has a soothing pale green tone that evokes the tranquillity of nature. The smooth gloss finish and brick style also gives these tiles an elegant, refined appearance and is reminiscent of water, which once again brings an organic feel to the space.
The Lancelot Gold Rectified Decor Matt White Body Tile also pays homage to the organic shapes found in nature which, combined with its neutral shade and textured surface, is another great choice for a nature-inspired tile. With a white background and delicate veining, these tiles have a minimalist luxury look, with the raised ripple design also adding depth and character.
If you prefer a cooling blue and white colour palette, however, then the Gallery Navy Shiny Body Wall Tile is very versatile and can be paired with white or fitted navy only, but with white grouting to contrast. Matching grout, meanwhile, can also create more of a colour block vibe.
The gloss finish and popular metro style add a contemporary look, while the ridged border provides that texture and adds another dimension to the design.

The Hex Habana Copper Mosaic Sheet is another nature-inspired tile, with its honeycomb shape and copper tones, which bring in that earthy vibe and add a lustre to the tiles with their metallic sheen. The marble veining also introduces extra detailing and the overall effect is one of modern elegance.
Again, this tile can be easily matched to a variety of other shades, with the mosaic style making them ideal for use on a feature wall.
These are just a few examples of some nature-inspired tiles which you could use in your home to bring the calming vibe of the outdoors, indoors. Whether you prefer a more neutral colour palette or would like something more vibrant, there are many great tile choices which will transform your interiors into tranquil, relaxing spaces.
